Lately, I've acquired a taste for heartier meals over fast food. I would rather have a meal that's going to stick to my ribs more than something I don't have to cook like fast food. I usually like to follow recipes exactly, but my mom showed me different techniques to use when cooking. She helped me learn that I need to think outside of the box and put my own spin on recipes.
For that reason, and since I'm determined to mostly use foods I already have in my cupboards/refrigerator, I switched some items in the recipe. I used cream of mushroom instead of creamy mushroom soup; I used fresh broccoli and shredded cheese instead of frozen broccoli & cheese sauce; and I chose not to use thyme. These small changes to the recipe worked just as well; the only thing I would have done differently is add water to the cream of mushroom. Cream of mushroom is a condensed soup making it really thick, so in order to loosen it, you can add water to it. I will definitely have to try this next time.
This recipe was as quick and delicious (if not more delicious) than the Sloppy Joe Casserole. Again, cheese was an ingredient and I will 2 thumbs up just about any meal with cheese in it. This meal took about 30 minutes in total.
