Birthday OOTN

As you read last week, I recently celebrated a birthday!!
I had an outfit in hiding I decided to dust off for a night on the town.

My Outfit Of The Night (OOTN)!!
One piece outfit bought from Marshalls

Jumpsuit: Max Studio via Marshalls / Necklace: It's Fashion Metro /
Shoes: Charlotte Russe

It was a beautiful fall night to wear this jumpsuit and the jumpsuit itself was very comfortable. This is the first one piece outfit I've successfully worn. I was so excited that I wanted to go out and buy more one piece outfits! As a matter of fact, I did!! It was one of my birthday presents :-)

This outfit gets two thumbs up!

Labor Day Weekend OOTD, Part 2

My part two outfit for Labor Day Weekend was more chill. I was planning on being up, out, and about all day, so this outfit allowed me to do more ripping and running!

This outfit is another TJ Maxx original! Same shopping trip as Part 1.
I'd been searching for black pants and just so happened to get lucky in that department too.
The tie-front shirts were popular this year, so I wanted to try my hand at this look! Like the other top, I'm hoping to wear this one a few more times before Autumn.
I know the sandals are hard to see but I ran up on a great sale at Belk by accident.
Like everything else I've mentioned, I've been looking for navy sandals or at least 2 years! lol
The sandals are navy blue and cork colored  Lauren (by Ralph Lauren) wedges.
I got these beautiful sandals for only $15!! I love catching good deals!
I also found this pearl necklace (that I SUPER LOVE...and wear every chance I get) by chance.
I'll have to do another post about the shoes and necklace at a later date!
So be on the lookout!

I spent some time this weekend getting creative with my pics. I have plans for my future in photography so I wanted to spend more time working on my photoshop skills.

The pic to the right is my fave.

I'm sure by now you know I'm from NC.

Everything about this picture screams North Carolina to me;

the trees, the manicured lawn, the neighborhood, the pick-up truck, the shrubbery, the bright sun (bka the heat :-)!

Being away from what you've known all your life makes you see things a little differently.

I'll always enjoy the visits! Can you tell I'm nostalgic?!?

Labor Day Weekend OOTD, Part 1

I attended a family reunion during Labor Day weekend. I wanted to look nice and I decided to go for a summer looks, so I had to shop for new outfits.
Look #1
I've been looking for white pants ALL summer. It'd be just my luck that I'd find a pair right before Labor Day! You know the "rule" is not to wear white after Labor Day.

It's a good thing I don't care about the rule...

because I plan on wearing these pants a few more times this year!

I love that this shirt opens in the back like butterfly wings...makes me feel like I'm flying! I tried to capture that with the photo, but you can't quite see it. I'm definitely hoping to wear this a few more times before it gets too cold!
The whole outfit came from TJ Maxx. That's right, I'm somewhat of a Maxxinista! LOL.
TJ Maxx seems to be one of the best places for me to find clothes these days.
The sandals are from Forever 21 (another place I have luck finding cute clothes).
I'm still searching for something a little more mature, so I've got a lot of branching out to do. Until then, I'm doing the best I can...

and I'm still taking suggestions. I've got a short list and at the top of that list is ASOS.
What are some other stores you'd suggest I check out??
I have not been paid for this post, neither is this sponsored by TJ Maxx or Forever 21.
These thoughts are totally my own...unpaid and honest.

AND since I've got you attention, you all know what tomorrow is!!!! My new hostess job has taken over Fridays!! Come back to show some love and support on FabHER Fridays!!

Maxi Dress OOTD

Forever 21 Maxi Dress

As you know from previous posts like this one, shopping is still giving me a tough time!
However, there are times when I get a win. Here's one!!

Dress: Forever 21

I love everything about this dress! It's nice, cool and super cute!!
I especially love the cutouts around the neck and the sheer bottom (below the knees).
The back is completely closed with a split towards the bottom of the dress.
This look can be dressed up for date night or down for an afternoon out on the town!
Either way you'd draw eyes as you prance around, ready to conquer the world!

4th of July OOTD

So, I like doing outfits of the day, but I'm pretty certain that I just like showing off my cute outfits!!
Half the time I can't even remember where I got most of the pieces from,
so I've decided to do just that...show off my outfits!!

If you see something you like, hit me up and
I will be more than happy to let you know where I got it from...
if I can remember, LOL!!

This ensemble is what I wore for our trip to the National Mall to watch fireworks.

I love this dress because I've dressed it up and I've dressed it down. Either way I wear it, I look fly...LOL! Most of all, I love being festive and looking like the day of celebration!! This dress was very fitting...and did you peep the fingernail polish! I was able to pull together all parts of this outfit from things I already had around the house. Don't you just love it when things fall together??
Red, White, & Blue everything!!

...and yes, this is my last July 4th post :-)
Have a great day y'all!!

Vacation OOTD

Florida in the Summer

Yes! As you can see I'm still reliving my vacation! Of course I went shopping for the vacation and I happened to find most of this look at Forever 21, so shouts out to them! This is already one of my favorite looks from my summer wardrobe. I've been working hard to get rid of my kangaroo pooch/pudgy stomach and it's been paying off. I finally mustered up enough courage to try this crop top look and I think it was a success! After all, what else is vacation for if not to show off your vacation body?!

Sunglasses: Francesca's
Owl Earrings: Forever 21
Necklace: Forever 21
MTV Crop Top: Forever 21
Leggings: Forever 21
Sandals: Rainbow
Bracelet: Forever 21
MK Watch

I wanted to highlight these earrings because they showcase two things. Owls (which are kind of my thing) and pearls (skee-wee :-)! I've loved owls since college. I found a beautiful owl ring in some random store near campus that sparked my interest in owls forever. I ended up losing that ring, but I've collected many owl accessories over the years. I'm very particular about my owl jewelry, and I don't usually wear studs, but something about these guys caught my eye!

I love looks that are stylish and kind to my wallet at the same time! I plan to incorporate more of the crop top look into my summer wardrobe so I have to make sure I stay on top of my diet and working out so that more of my abs will show as opposed to just stomach, catch my drift?!

What do yo think of the crop top craze this year and are you participating?

Mother's Day Weekend OOTD

Cute Summer Outfits and Shoes

I got cute this weekend for Mother's Day and I wanted to share my outfit(s) of the day(s) with you! The main thing I'm showcasing with both of these outfits is the shoes! I'm in the process of revamping my summer shoe collection and I just so happened to have my attention immediately grabbed by these beauties when I saw them!

This first outfit is a freebie because the shirt and jeans are years old (unbeknownst to most who see them) AND I can't remember where I got some of these items from! Hey, I'm just being honest!! I'm not a fashion blogger and I don't do OOTD posts often so give me a break! Either way, I was fly, so I captured the moments and I'm sharing them!

Help...I Need Jeans!

This post might seem random, but it's real! So, I've mentioned wanting to update my style a few times recently. One staple item that every closet needs is a good pair of jeans. I go on shopping trips every now and then and I must admit that my tolerance for shopping is low. I have to try on clothes before I buy them so the art of going of 1. going into a store, 2. undressing, 3. trying on the clothes I've found, 4. taking those clothes off, and 5. redressing is just way too much!! I've been trying to find jeans for a long time now. I'm getting older and my body is changing. With the changes my body is making, I need clothes that'll flatter my body rather than make it look anything other.

I used to have an abundance of jeans. During the last year and especially in preparation for my move, I ended up discovering that a lot of the jeans I had didn't fit any more...LOL. So, I gave those jeans away and donated them. Now my jean stock is low and I'm looking to rebuild. To start with, the type of jeans I'm looking for are skinny or straight leg jeans. It's the winter time, so I'm doing a lot of boot wearing. Skinny jeans are the best for this. Apparently boot cut jeans "went out of style" while I was in style hibernation. I think boot cut jeans work the best for wearing flats and and even heels, so in trying to rebuild my jean stock, I'm staying away from boot cut, but I have my eye out for a good pair if I can find them.

Most recently my favorite pair of go to jeans has been Levi's. I would always buy Levi's because they are a good quality jean and they seemingly fit me best. The last few pairs of Levi's have not been doing that well. Outside of Levi's, my next old favorite were Old Navy jeans. I try to go back to Old Navy but it seems that the older I get, the worse they fit! My problems with jeans are many. Here are a few
  • The crotch is too long
  • Mid-waist jeans are cut too high
  • Low cut jeans are cut to low
  • The jean fabric is too harsh
  • Too tight in the waist area
  • Too loose in the leg area
  • Too short/too long
  • Too baggy (or they get baggy as the day goes on)
  • Etc., etc.
I'm just looking for a good pair of go to jeans. I don't care how much they cost, but I do want them to fit well and to continue to fit well as time goes on. When I run into these dilemmas I can't do anything but shake my head because I've never had this much trouble finding clothes before. Why now? And I know I'm not the only person going through this, but it feels like it!

So...if any of you ladies out there have suggestions about where to go to find good jeans or know good quality jean brands, let me know! PLEASE!

Happy Hump Day Folks!

NYE OOTD

I remembered how hard it was to find an outfit for New Year's Eve last year so I decided to start the search early this year. Even though I began early, I still had trouble. In this big metropolitan area, there were no dresses to be found. I'd come to the conclusion that most stores weren't going to put out NYE dresses until after Christmas.

The reason I was able to start my search so early was because I ran across this beautiful dress on Christin Armstrong's IG. I had to have it!! It helped me to know that I wanted something sparkly and long sleeved. I wanted shoes to accent my dress (whatever dress I found) but I also wanted closed-toe shoes because I knew it would be cold!! After going to at least 20-30 stores over the course of a few weeks, here's what I was able to put together:

The Dynamic Duo
Dress: Forever 21

Shoes: Charlotte Russe

Accessories: Charlotte Russe Necklace,
Tiffany Bracelet
Michael Kors Watch

Arm Candy: My handsome boyfriend! :-)

My Thoughts, Dress: I really was looking to stay away from black this years as I wore it last year (see here, picture on the right). I'm also still working towards being more stylish. It's been a task trying to find that style between young adult and older women's fashion! It either looks too young or looks too old. With that being the case, Forever 21 wasn't on the top of my list for places to look. This dress was actually the last one in the store and I wasn't going to buy it because it looked damaged (up close) but I liked the dress so much that I couldn't let it slip out of my hands. I literally walked into 20 to 30 stores y'all! It was no fun. I also looked online, but had no luck there either. (This didn't phase me because I'm a little old fashioned in that I really prefer to try my clothes on before deciding to buy.)

My Thoughts, Shoes: After going through all I had to go through to find a dress, I was not excited about having to do the same to find shoes! Charlotte Russe was the first place I looked for shoes and I stumbled onto these beauties immediately. As soon as I tried them on, I fell in love. The thing is, they didn't have my size!! They never do!! I'm sure size 9 is the most common woman's shoe size in America!! I also didn't want a sandal. I wanted to be able to wear tights and have my feet covered because I knew it would be a cold night! So, I searched in other stores with no luck. No shoes could compare to these! I called every Charlotte Russe close to me in NC (I was home for the holidays) but no store had the shoe. I didn't want to order it because I was afraid they wouldn't make it in time. After $20 (express shipping) and a trip to FedEx (because packages don't come to address just yet...smh), I was able to get them in time. I guess I can't really complain.

The outfit was perfect and I was told that I was the best looking woman in the ballroom that night. I'm inclined to believe that, even if it was my boyfriend that said it! LOL. I also can't wait to find another reason to wear this outfit!!

Maxi Skirt OOTD

OFFICIAL BIRTHDAY COUNTDOWN!: 18 Days

I'm in a new city. My fashion goal is to try and adopt some of the styles of the city while integrating some flavor of my own. Any way you put it, I want to be more fashionable. I haven't really been paying much attention to fashion since I haven't had a chance to "get out" much this year. I hope to be doing more of that and when I do, I want to be prepared. Here's one outfit that's a bit different than anything I would have normally put together.

Beauty World Earrings
Body Central Necklace
Michael Kors Watch
Old Navy Tank Top
Charlotte Russe Maxi Skirt
And Sandals I've had for years that finally gave out on me. :-/

What's different about this outfit, for me, is the skirt. I don't normally wear skirts or dresses but I know the maxi skirt has been really big this year. I guess it gives you the best of both worlds. I can say that I've worn two this week and they're starting to grow on me (even though it's a little late with fall being 12 days away).

I guess I should try to be more current with styles and at least give these things a try when they emerge instead of waiting until the last minute!

Lesson learned.

Day to Night OOTD

This is probably going to be a sucky outfit of the day because some of the details are lacking...lol...but I thought I was cute this day (outfit AND hair) so I wanted to share:

One of my last pics taken at my old job!
Owl Earrings: see here
Sideways Cross Necklace: see here
MK Watch: see here
Sideways Cross Bracelet: from the Umbrella Market (which is like a local flea/farmer's market)
Ralph Lauren Cardigan: see here
Dress: who knows?! LOL...I've had this dress for a while, but it just now fits as it should!
Shoes: were very cute this day, but I didn't capture them, so I'll save them for another outfit

With this outfit, I did a work vs. play look. I wore the cardigan for work and took it off after work. It was a lovely look both ways!
:-)

The week is steady moving along and I'm still trying to get acclimated to my new home. I've learned a lot just in the past couple of days, but to make sure that things don't get too crazy my routine has been pretty much the same. I'm ready to get to a point where I can explore a little...and I kind want this to feel like home already!! But as I keep saying...all in due time!

Have a great day y'all!!

My favorite post of the week!

Everyday Look OOTD

I've been feeling really stylish lately so I've been trying to find items in my closet to dress up and wear in ways that I wouldn't normally wear them. Colored pants are a hot item these days and I just so happen to have a few of them in my closet.

Here's one way I've decided to dress up a pair of colored pants for church.

Owl Earrings: A gift from my friend/cousin/Soror!
Necklace: Aldo Accessories
Michael Kors watch
Claire's bracelet
Ralph Lauren Cardigan: Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store
Old Navy tank top
Pants: Belk
Christian Siriano shoes (I didn't mention this in the last post, but he was one of my FAVES on project runway!!): Payless Shoesource

It was a very cute outfit to wear for only 2 hours...lol! Adding this item to my to do list - wear this outfit again..and soon!

Two things:

still being [molly]Check out funday Monday!

I know it's Monday, but I'm also using this post for my Random Wednesday too!!
What can I say, I love the outfit!

AND, don't forget about this AWESOME giveaway!! Go check it out!!!

Rooftop Party OOTN

This past weekend, my boyfriend and I attended one of his office parties. Unfortunately, we had other plans to fall through, so I was unprepared for a party. We ended up having to spend a whole evening shopping for an outfit I could wear!! Here's what we found:

**That's not my purse, nor is that my water! Those items just so
happened to be there while we were taking pictures.**

Earrings: Aldo Accessories
Necklace: Aldo Accessories
Watch: Michael Kors
Bracelet: Tiffany's
Dress (w/ attached belt): Nordstrom
Shoes: Payless, Christian Siriano
Arm Candy: MY boyfriend...and NO!, you can't have him!

Since, we were searching kind of at the last minute our options were limited. We didn't want to spend two evenings searching for a dress I'd be wearing only for a few hours. I came across this dress and thought it was cute...then I looked at the tag and saw it was a petite (womp, womp...lol!). By no means am I a petite woman but I can get away with wearing petite dresses (at least I think I can). If I wouldn't have mentioned it was a petite dress you wouldn't even know...lol...just as I'm sure no one at the party noticed either! If they did, it wasn't a bad thing; I was just "givin' 'em a little leg!!"

Cute OOTD

I'm in the process of trying to update my wardrobe. I've been pulling ideas from different avenues as to what's in and what's not. Style has definitely taken a different turn than what I'm used to, so for some advice I asked my sister to help me out. I figured, she's in the college world and sees fashion more than I do by sitting in an office 40 hours a week. This was a style inspired by some tips she gave me.

Earrings: Beauty World (local beauty supply store)
Necklace: Beauty World
Shirt: Charlotte Russe
Cami: Old Navy
Bracelet: Tiffany
Watch: Michael Kors
Jeans: I can't remember!! (but if I had to say, I'd guess Rainbow...lol)
Shoes: Payless Shoes

I really liked this shirt but what I've found is that the clothes that I buy from the more youthful stores (such as Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, etc.) don't have as much longevity. So, the goal is to update my wardrobe, but to search for more quality pieces. I feel like I need to get rid of at least 85% of my wardrobe, so I will have to tackle this task one piece at a time!!

This one gets a thumbs up, don't ya think?

Graduation OOTD

It's been soooooo long since I've done an outfit of the day post, but I've gotten a lot of compliments on this outfit, so I thought what better thing to do than highlight it in a blog post?!

Earrings: Beauty World (local beauty supply store)
Necklace: Beauty World
Dress: Belk - for about $12 (bargain shopper)
Belt: came off of a skirt I got from Ross
Shoes: Payless, American Eagle (bought them during the winter...they were either $7 or $12, can't remember)
Bracelet & Watch: I forgot to pack them for the trip *very sad face* - I felt naked the whole weekend!

I wore this for an outside graduation. It was very comfortable. However, The Weather Channel has been a little off with its weather predictions lately and it turned out to be a little warmer than we were expecting (switching to AccuWeather as we speak!). Either way, It was a great pick for the occasion!

Pencil Skirt OOTD

So, I'm excited about doing an Outfit Of The Day post!! I posted a picture of myself this past Sunday on Instagram and got some really good feedback from Jessie at Blogging While Single and Over 30. I thought it would be a great outfit to share as an OOTD. I'm sure I won't be doing these often because I feel like once you capture an outfit (such as posting pictures online - Facebook, Instagram, etc.) it lessens the bang the outfit has when you wear it again! LOL...maybe that's just my flawed thinking, but I digress.

The outfit, or shall I say outfit(s) of the day are a play off of each other. Okay, the secret is out!! Whenever I find a good piece (whether it be clothes, shoes, etc.), for a decent price, I'm very tempted to buy two. Most times I refrain, but there are a number of instances where I do not. LOL. These OOTD shows two instances where I did not refrain. Items - the blazer and the skirt!

Top Picture
Blazer: JCPenney
Shirt: I don't remember. If I had to guess I'd say Charlotte Russe or Forever 21
Scarf: I don't remember...lol. If I had to guess I'd say Rainbow
Skirt: Ross
Tights: Charlotte Russe
Boots: Payless
Earrings: Body Central
Michael Kors Watch: My CB *smiley*
Bracelet: Claire's

Bottom Picture:
Blazer: JCPenney
Shirt: I don't remember. If I had to guess I'd say Charlotte Russe or Forever 21
Necklace: Beauty World
Skirt (with belt attached): Ross
Tights: Charlotte Russe
Boots: Payless
Owl Earrings: Gift from a good friend
Michael Kors Watch: My CB *smiley*
Bracelet: Claire's

I don't know if you guys know this or not, but I'm a very frugal shopper. I splurged on a few items for these outfits, so my point won't be made today. But my cutest and biggest saves were the skirts. They were $6 each! Very cute and sheek; and can be used for both work and play.

What do you guys think? I mean, cute - I know, but other than that...LOL...jk, jk!

Seriously, what do you guys think?

This is pegged as my favorite post for this week!! Check out the blog hop:
