June '15 Length Check

41 Months Natural

April seems like such a long time ago but I'm here again with another length check. Since April, I've recommitted to having healthy hair and I've started working fervently towards reaching and maintaining the healthy hair goals I've set.

First, let's take a look at my starting point:

March 30 = 165 weeks natural (3 yrs, 2 mos)

March length check versus June length check

June 21 = 177 weeks natural (3 yrs, 5 mos)

I know, I know. You can't really see ANYthing when comparing these two pictures!!! If you look close enough you can see the hair hanging on the right side of my face has grown, but let's talk about the real problem here. This two months really did slip by without me taking good pictures of my hair. I must admit I wasn't impressed with my hair's progress over this two month period. It seems as if it's doing worse! OH NO! Here's my hair on the length check shirt.

Look at those ends!
Once I got home after this salon visit, I was more determined to find a natural hair salon to go to, near or far (but not too far)! As much as I can try, I'm just not a do-it-yourself home hair care person. I need professional eyes that specialize in natural hair...in its natural state...to give me guidance!! If you look at my March length check, you can see that my hair is looking worse over time. I feel like the split ends are taking over again, so it's time to get serious about eliminating these things, really truly caring for my hair, and getting back on track to making progress!

I've stopped manipulating my hair as much by mainly wearing the wash and go style, but is this the best route? Is touching my hair less actually hurting it?? Leaving it to do what it does on it's own may be allowing it tangle up more throughout the week? Are my detangle and cowash sessions too much stress on my hair?? I truly have no idea at this point.

SO, I've made the decision to stop pussyfooting around and get myself to a natural hair salon, ASAP!! Half the year is gone already. I've been doing this on my own for way too long. I recently got some salon suggestions. I kept my eyes open, made a decision about the salon I want to go to, made an appointment!

I wish I could convey to you guys how much I don't like change. My faith in finding someone to compare to what I was getting from my salon back home is low. I know going into this that I'll have to give this new person some time to work with my hair to be able to determine if they're helping my hair or not, so I want to allow at least two months time for that. I'm not saying I want my hair to make a turn around in that time, but I'm sure I'll be able to get a good feel for someone and their knowledge of hair within that time.

Regardless of how I feel about change, something had to give! My hair is suffering and has been stagnant for the past few months; time to move it along!! Wish me luck!

What do you do when you feel like the effort you're putting towards your hair isn't working?
