Now, today's flashes in time are all about Mi!! When I first started my blog, I wrote a lot of posts that gave everyone an insight into who I am and how I think. I did a few series and I also used to do a things that showcased things about me like my OOTD posts. Here are a few of my about-me posts that I really liked:

A couple of suggestions: I really enjoyed my Introvert Series the best. That series gave me the opportunity to shed some light on some of the things about me that I feel people misunderstand the most. I also enjoyed the series connected with 'Let's Talk About College'. That series gave me a chance to shed some light on my transition from school to work which led up to the big announcement I made about moving to DC. So, if I had to point you in a direction, I would say definitely check out those posts!

It's an extended weekend for most of us with President's Day being Monday. I hope you all enjoy this weekend and make the most of it!

Flashback Friday

It's the beginning of a new year and thoughts of what this year has to bring my blog are exciting. I wanted to do a recap of my most popular posts of 2013, as a review for myself as well as to showcase some of my earlier work to my newest followers. I'm creating a short "Flashback" series to roll out some of my favorite posts from my first year because after going through my posts I realized that I talked about some great things! I didn't want to take away from any one area, so I'll break my posts up into different areas over time.

In the left hand sidebar under "Popular Posts" you can find my top 5 posts of all time. So, even though a few of these posts are my favorites too, I won't highlight them since you can go over and click on the any one of them at any time!

The posts people find most interesting are my hair posts. That makes my heart smile because hair is the main reason I blog!! I'll highlight these posts first!

I wanted to also take a few seconds to point out this March 18th post (This Computer Of Mine) because I thought it was awesome! I talked about my computer, how it was on my Christmas list (it really was on my list), how my issues with it hindered me from blogging like I wanted to, etc. This is an example of why I love blogging! I was able to look back at the post from 10 months ago and see that I'd been dealing with my sorry computer for a long time!! I also got to see that those issues continued throughout the year.

If you can't tell by now, I have a new computer!! FINALLY!! I gave the blog a slight facelift for the new year and for my new start!! I also created a Signature (which I started using Wednesday) and a new Afro Button:

 

2014 is my year for blog expansion and I'm serious about it!

Flashback Friday

I wanted to share my Memorial Day Weekend. I had a blast and wish I could go back...hence Flashback Friday! Here's a small peek into my weekend....

First there was the Caribbean Festival at Linganore Winecellars. So my bf told me this is what we were doing for the day and I was like "Cool. I love reggae and I'm not opposed to testing different wines out, so this should be a nice little gathering attend." Little did we both know! This event/winery was in Mt. Airy, Maryland. Neither of us had ever been there, so we didn't know what to expect. Once we got off of the highway we had about a 20 mile drive of nothing but extreme winding roads and extreme hills. We were very close to West Virginia and could even see some mountains in the background. It was very rural yet so beautiful. In North Carolina there are plenty of roads that are draped by very vast fields, farm land, and trees as far as the eyes can see...but this was just different. Even though I'm a small city girl that craves the big city life...I thoroughly enjoy the countryside. Since the event was in such a secluded section of the world, I was thinking that it would be more of a small intimate gathering...WRONG! There had to be at least 50,000 people there (AT LEAST!!). I was unable to capture the masses in photograph, but there were cars on every hillside! I was amazed to see that so many people navigated their way through winding road after winding road to find that tiny corner of the world, but it was definitely worth it!

The next day, since it was Memorial Day weekend, we thought it was fitting to visit the monuments. Here's the route we took around the National Mall and the monuments/sites we visited.

It was such a beautiful day so we did a good amount of walking! Here's a small compilation of the walk....















During that walk we made sure to visit some of the war monuments. Of course I had to get another picture of the NC column at the World War II Monument. It was decorated so nicely, I couldn't resist! Here's that compilation:
