Potato Bites & Shrimp Scampi
Between snow days, weekends, and broken water pipes at work...I've had a lot of extra time of my hands lately. With that time I decided to dive into a few of Recipes I've pinned on My Pinterest Page!! I want to get away from just pinning recipes and actually trying them! The thing is some times I get so caught up in getting a task done, like cooking and doing my hair, that I forget to take pictures!! So, bear with me in that area.
The first recipe I tried was a few weeks ago. I have no pictures for the first recipe so I'll speak very shortly on it. The side dish I made was Cheesy Bacon Potato Bites. Two things I'll say about this recipe is that for one, it was very tasty but like most things I try to cook for the first time, I could have seasoned the potatoes a little more. Secondly, the recipe called for 3 whole potatoes and I used 7 (because I love potatoes so much I didn't think 3 would be enough). I should have stuck to the recipe!! There were so many leftover potatoes that we couldn't eat them all...LOL. Overall it was a very good recipe and I would recommend it.
The next recipe I tried was shrimp scampi which was inspired by this Pinterest recipe. Here are the steps I took to make this scrumptious entree:

The next recipe I tried was shrimp scampi which was inspired by this Pinterest recipe. Here are the steps I took to make this scrumptious entree:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
- Line a pan with aluminum foil and melt a stick of butter on the pan in the oven
- Slice one lemon (if you'd like a little citrus taste) and place the slices on in the melted butter on the pan
- Peel the shrimp (which had already been deveined) and rinse
- The recipe called for Italian seasoning, but I didn't particularly like Italian seasoning. Instead I used McCormick's Garlic Butter Shrimp Scampi Mix and coated the shrimp in this mix before laying them on the pan amongst the butter and lemon slices
- Put the shrimp in the oven and bake at 350 for 15 minutes

I guess I was so hungry I forgot to take an after picture but this recipe turned out well! I ate the shrimp over a bed of rice. With the shrimp I tried another recipe that I'll write a post about later, so stay tuned!!
ALSO!

Pinterest Experiments - Craft Work
DIY Gift For Any Occasion
I'm definitely no artist!
I searched Pinterest for something I could do for a birthday/Valentine's Day gift. I wanted to make something myself because I feel it gives things a more personal touch. I found a great project idea and here's what I decided to do with it!
This was a very simple task to do with not many steps.
Supplies
Sharpie markers
Stuffed animal of your choice (you could also replace the stuffed
animal with candy, flowers, tickets to a Beyonce concert, whatever!!)
a bowl & a cup
Directions
1. I wrote the messages I wanted on each (the bowl and the cup)
2. Then baked them both in the oven on 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Look at that?! Prep time took only about 10 minutes! Everything looked good and I was very proud of my turnout. I may have to change the number of Pinterest experiments from 1 per month to 2 or 3!!
What are some DIY gifts you've made for special occasions?!!

Pinterest Experiment
I'm not one to just jump on any old bandwagon. When I first heard about Pinterest, I was very skeptical. I thought it was a weird idea! Reluctantly, I joined in February of last year and since then I've found some pretty good ideas there. (Follow me! My Pinterest)
I tell myself that I need to do more than just pin pins, I actually need to use them. I've done a pretty good job of that lately, but I want some accountability. So I've decided to use at least one pin per month. That's definitely undershooting things (because I pin a million pins whenever I visit the sight) but I feel like it will at least get me started with using Pinterest as a resource rather than a time killer.
