My "Professional" Look

My Flat Twist Look With A Twist

OFFICIAL BIRTHDAY COUNTDOWN!: 16 Days!

I've been trying to do different things with my hair since starting my new job. I'm trying to slowly transition my work look from a truly casual look to a more business casual look. With doing that comes the challenge of figuring out what to do with my hair. I got up with one of my curl friends and asked her how she got this one particular look that I could never quite get on my own. Here is my version of the look:

The front fourth of my hair has decided it won't twist out like it's supposed to. What I did here was my classic "Rasheeda braid".

To get my hair to lie down without actually putting it into a complete ponytail, I used an old headband which I cut (to make it non-circular).

I was able to make that bushy ponytail in the back as small or as large as I wanted to without the headband being noticeable.

I like this style, but my hair overall is really frizzy so I'm still on the search for a product I can use daily to lay my hair down without weighing it down (because I'm not washing my hair more than once every two weeks)!!!

The outfit I had on this day was particulary cute too...but that will be a post for another day.

If you have any suggestions for products to use to keep my hair from frizzing out and that's not too heavy, I'm all ears!

Thanks in advance!!!

  1. Hey! I hope your enjoying your new job. I really like the twist in the front. I'm still in the short fro stage and I only use Cantu Shea Butter and olive oil. It's not heavy, I do want to find another product without all of the additives and mineral oil. I can't wait to see what you try.

  2. Very cute. I love that little blazer the color is nice. You look different in all of your photos lol. With your hair straight and in different styles it gives you such different looks! I need to do more with my hair.

    1. Thanks Erica!! I actually got that blazer from JCPenney. I think I do too...and that's what I love about my look! I like switching it up on them :-) I still think I need to do more with my hair. I don't like to get comfortable with one style. I like variety!

  3. Hi I'm Christina, just stopping by from the Aloha Friday blog hop!
Cute hair! Reminds me of my struggle with natural hair . My hair was just prone to frizz and would hardly even twist out nicely. Have you tried an Shea Moisture products. those were really good for my hair. I just couldn't always source them cuz I'm not in the US. They do sell in Walgreens though. those were a huge help!

    1. Hi Christina!! I actually went out and bought some products to try and one of them was a shea moisture product. We'll see how this goes. I hope to write a post about it after I've given each product some time to work (or not work)! Thanks for your suggestion and I hope you continue to visit!

      Thanks for stopping by!!
